ABOUT US
In 2017, we made Spicewood Farms at the Wurzel Homestead our home because our family loves horses. Our daughter Haley is a horse trainer and competition rider. We wanted our dream home to be theirs too, so we’ve made a place that we think you’ll agree is a Hill Country Haven for horses and their Western and English riders.
Fancy & Alison
“I’ve been with Alison, the barn manager, since I was 3. We live together on Wurzel Ranch in the barn, me down below and her right above us in the apartment. She’s been riding for 13 years and working with horses, guiding trail rides and managing barns, for 7. It’s her dream job to work with us, and she has the experience and love to know what we need and keep an eye out for any problems or danger. A thorough perfectionist, she keeps our stalls the cleanest I’ve seen. Our human friends all love her for how caring and responsive she is. She takes care of all the horses here as well as she does me.”

Dakota & Barry
“Barry has been my person since he bought the perfect place to keep me. You can tell he’s been around horses his whole life. He knows how to talk to us and put as at ease. He raised his children with horses, and it’s been their dream for a long time to have his family and horses in one place. We’ve all been living it here since 2017. He’s busy with his construction company and charity work with his church and community, but we see each other every day and enjoy our time together on the trails or watching Haley and Tiz train together. It doesn’t get any better than this.”

Tiz & Haley
“I live to jump and race against other horses with Haley at the reins. I love it! I’m blessed to have a small human who enjoys it as much as I do, and the perfect facilities to give us the edge we need. Sometimes we teach other small humans and horses to jump and race too. Haley is a very experienced English rider, and you can tell I enjoy being a leader the way I toss my mane. I share all my secrets with them. I don’t mind. Maybe someday one of them will race and beat me, but it only adds to my pride and satisfaction.”
